Very few people will pay top for copper pennies ""TODAY"". Tomorrow should be quite different. At the current 2.4c melt for each copper penny, with the possibility of the US mint discontinuing the minting of pennies because it is unprofitable, I'm willing to take the chance to more than double my money every time I save a copper. Going down the road of the depreciating dollar only means that the penny will no longer be needed or useful for general commericial transactions. This, by itself, increases the odds, that smaller denomination coins will be phased out as the dollar more or less is demotinized. The more the copper penny is valued, the more the incentive to hoard them away. If at any time, the mint issues an edict that they are no longer going to mint pennies, the lifting of the melt ban for pennies is soon to follow. And, you know what will happen then don't you.

So, why not get your share of coppers now, while you still can. That's why I'm hoarding them.
