Sorting Wheaties

Anyone have an idea on the fastest way to sort wheaties?

I have a bucket of wheaties that someone wants me to search through to find any gems.

I've heard that a Ryedale often separates the earlier (pre-40, maybe?) ones for some reason, although they're supposed to be the same composition. I'm not sure how reliable that is, though. You're probably best off just looking through them all...

Yup!!! Get yourself a good magnifying glass and plenty of light and go through them one at time. I have searched hundreds of thousands that way.

It wasn't as bad as I thought... I have 11 whitman folders that I have been given as presents over the years, and thought to myself what a great way to fill them! I have 3 books that are the volume 1- 1909-1940, 7 books that are volume 2 1941-1974, and 1 book that is from 1909-1970..

So, I started by doing an excel spreadsheet of what I was missing, and sorted them into 1940-1950s, pulling the coins that I was missing. I put the 1910s & 1920s in one pint glass, and the 1930s in another, and finally 1955 in a third.

To my surprise.. 1955s was the most unexpected hardest coin to find! I am missing that coin in ALL of my 7 Volume 3 folders.

The closest I came to completing the 89 coins Volume 1 folder was 70 coins, then 53, 48, and 38 coins.

Notable finds include a 1909, 3 1909 VDB, and a 1911 D & S.

Overall, I am pretty happy that I am done looking through them although it looks like I need to sort some more wheaties! ugh lol


so, I sorted them into 40s-50s, and ALMOST filled all of the books. Boy, 1955 S is a hard coin to find! I am missing a few 'S' mints and a 1948d to complete that coin in

i think i read on here somone found an Indian head in their zinc pile.
