Can anyone enlighten me about be the hobby?
Can anyone tell me anything about this one in particular?

Yep, that's a beauty.
I don't know much about collecting stocks, but the obvious allure is in the artwork. Railroad and Mining companies seem to be among collector favorites. I've got a B&O Railroad kicking around...I'll post a pic.

The rendering is pretty accurate for circa 1830. The "locomotives" in those early days were the size of today's minivans; the engineer stood in the weather, and the cars were joined by rope. Top speed: 8mph
