I found a 2006 penny (zinc - weighs 2.51 gr +/-) a week or so ago - very good shape, but its gold in color, somewhat like a Sacagawea dollar. Don't have pics at this time, but they will be coming in the morning.
To really mess with somebody I sacrificed a 44 and plated it a dull nickel. Not sure if one has ever been found, but I bet someone thought they had a steel 44. I suppose if I want to sacrifice a coin worth 50 cent I could copper plate a 1943 and somebody might think they found a rare 1943 copper. Whatever passes the time at the plating shop.
