I get more like 3/4 are copper. I did a specific count of all seven 1982 types, but that was several years ago... I had accumulated several thousand total.

I wonder if it has anything to do with location? I just weighed a bunch that I had accumulated and my numbers are similar to yours. I got 220 coppers and 204 zincs. I hope that makes you feel a little better

I've gone from the upper 80's to the upper 70's on the 82's......slowly my percentages have been falling.

I think the percentages vary depending on where you are located. In Southern California where overall copper percentages run around 18%, I'm finding more zinc 1982s than copper ones. My totals so far are 1,903 copper vs 2,007 zinc (49% copper vs 51% zinc).

I am in N/W Arkansas and handsort. I put all the 82's aside to weigh after sorting. I am finding more copper than zincs. The last box I found approximately 125 82's and out of that around 20 were zinc. Overall, I probably found around 750 coppers. Last week I checked 4 boxes. Be glad when I get a sorter.

70-80 % of the 82s are copper here in north Alabama.

When I was hand sorting I was segregating all the 1982's for further sorting at a later date. I had a little over a $100 worth when I did finally sort them. I got 80% Cu.
I don't remember what month it was, but the switch was made late in the year.
