Shield penny value

Just opend a box of pennies and they are all new 2011 D shield pennies. Is there any value in these or should I just take them back to the bank?

Take them back to the bank. The ebay resale value for an opened box wont even pay your fees. Figures, because I am getting tons of them now, my last 5 boxes or so.

yea. 6 months ago I was selling em int he small flat rate boxes (can fit $15 in them rolled) and fetching $28-$35 each before fees. not worth it anymore though. started breaking even on a few and stopped.

Yea, I bet I have 10 boxes at the house that are only worth 25 dollars each. Was getting 85 in the begining with ebay but only for the first month or so. I will now have to unroll and dump them when I get a chance.

I got $35 for a box a couple of weeks ago on a local classified listing.

I was able to sell a few for $35 each as well. Am I missing something? I'm getting seller's remorse. Other than the possibility that zinc goes back to $2/lb and uncriculated zincs trade above face value, why else would someone want the 2011's?

I have no idea why someone would pay over face for them..........maybe they just view them as unique and aren't really educated on these things and they THINK they are picking up something unique.

Some collectors want unopened bank BU rolls. Though 'accumulator' is a better term then collector.

thats true. just wanted to make sure I wasn't selling without knowing all the nitty gritty. I see all the BU rolls pre 60s going for multiple dollars per roll. I'm sure those zincs in 60 years will be worth more, but I'm happy to get rid of them at a premium. I got them instead of the copper's I wanted and getting something vs nothing is fine with me.
