(Talaris, formerly DeLaRue, formerly Brandt)
The Mach6 does 3,000 coins a minute and the Mach9 series does 4500 coins a minute; both are available with coin recognition.
(They call it their WAVE technology)
I worked at Brandt/DelaRue for a decade. The coin recognition was able to separate copper from zinc already back in 1999.
These are expensive machines though.

Only if it has the optional "Wave" technology. Not all of them do.

Have you done this? Are you set up to dump at your corner bank with a front end loader? Its not as easy as you have written.pennyhoard wrote:If you have a business account or are planning to start one talk with your banker and tell them up front that the bulk of your deposits will be in coin.
inflationhawk wrote:The amount the Fed will lend to a bank is not just a stated number of 7 to 1, 5 to 1, 10 to 1 or whatever. It's dependent on the bank's Net Debit Cap and bank tier rating. Banks are only allowed to 'borrow' from the Fed at any point in time up to their Net Debit Cap. They are required to have average 'reserves' on hand daily over the course of each 2 week reserve maintenance period as well. And if they are in a net overdraft position with the Fed at the end of any business day, it's a violation of policy and is considered an overnight overdraft.
Collecting pennies will not offset the trouble and cost of handling them and does not materially affect their ability to get money from the Fed. I don't know that any bank uses pennies or coinage as a strategy to meet their reserve requirements or ability to increase lending.

While I do remember the era of machines that took cents (gumball machines), those days are a decade or three in the rear view mirror now I'm afraid.
