Really Strange rolls

Postby penny pretty » Sat Jan 12, 2013 5:39 pm

After last weeks great find of CWRs(lots-o wheats)I picked up 40 rolls and they were all marked. a circle around the roll. I have got these SAME marks from the SAME branch of my credit union B4 and they were all skunks. Just in case, I weighed one, then two, and they were easily about 25% (WHEW) The question became. why would someone mark average rolls? A pattern emerged. new cents on both ends, copper in the middle. EVERY roll was this way. 12 to 20 coppers in the middle, shields on each end. all handrolled by same person. Is someone trying to make me insane?(no comments from peanut gallery) It CANT be coincidence.pics follow .

We had that happen to us with an "X" on the rolls and they just were odd rolls see http://www.realcent.org/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=11184&hilit=+X+marks

I put a black Sharpie circle about 1/3 of the way down the roll when I dump.
My local banks only take rolled coin and I will never use a Coinstar machine.
That way when I ask for rolls I know I've searched the marked ones and don't buy them.
It also let's me see how far my dumps travel, I've seen my Sharpie circle over 150 miles from my little corner of the world.

That is weird. I keep trying to think of reasonable explanations, but I can't come up with one.

I figure its a kid looking for wheats.(no wheats in forty rolls @30% doesnt happen usually) and maybe putting "shiney"ones on each end as a prank.

Man that is bizarre! Maybe somebody searched them for for "book fillers" then marked?

Recently my kid helped me mark my searched rolls using a tiny cartoon animal stamp on each flat sleve before it was filled. And the teller (one of the less friendly that I deal with) actually questioned me for a while about it before accepting the deposit!

your pic 001 has the letters Cu hidden in plain sight as a face. the C is the mouth, the u is a nose and some marks were added to make the Cu look like a face. I've sold some of my hunted rolls maked Cu, it looks like you found someone a little more stealthy about it.

I put a small X at one end of each roll, i picked up a box of CWR's and they had a X in the middle. The teller asked if I still wanted them and I did. The guy who put the X on them must of been looking for Wheats because the rolls were 28% Cu.
