A few months ago I marked a bunch of the zincolns I sent back with a strip from a sharpie on their reverse. Pretty sure I just got one of them back in a customer wrapped roll from my credit union.
But it's ok. He's welcome at my house, because he brought a few of his older, heavier friends along in the roll with him.

I always thought of marking the rolls but never thought the penny itself.

how did you mark them?

In a pretty generic way, a swipe of a sharpie over the memorial from the "t" in states to the "c" in cent. I only did about 200 before I quit, but I put them in random return rolls, not all in 4 rolls of coin.
