professionals getting on the nickel bandwagon

This was a pretty interesting presentation... a little too wordy, and self-touting, but still a professional (Agora Financial) approach to presenting the idea of nickel hoarding.

If Agora inc. does nothing else well, it's their marketing that's best! They know their target market, and how to get their attention. Agora Financial, Sovereign Society, International Living, Oxford Club, and a host of others. The newsletters are a typical good read but DYODD before investing on their advice.

Guess nickels are the last great real money in circulation without sorting.

Any idiot could have figured out they were talking about nickels. They mentioned that one coin was left to be debased, and that it had already happened with dimes, quarters, half dollars, and pennies. What else was it going to be, Sacagaweas? Coz there gold dolarz, duh

Bt you would be surprised at those that have no clue or laugh at the thought. I don't think some even realize the 65 to 70 halves are 40percent! Also silver minted for proofs as well. Those sets are foolishly sometimes broken apart and spent !

I didn't know about pre-65 coins being silver at all until 14 months ago. I knew they had silver and gold coins at some point in the past, but I thought it was longer ago. I told my grandma a year ago that they still made silver coins until 64, thinking she would be surprised at how recent that was. She said she thought they still were silver  Even people who are old enough to remember the silver coins don't know or care. I think most people in general know nothing of silver US coinage.

See. I'm glad you know now!! So much to find even now in change! I was lucky to go into my bank a few months ago and ask if they had any halves. Well yes they did only $13.00 and $6.00 40percent! I still find copper pennies as well. All keepers! Keep every nickel as well. In a box I usually find a silver one or 2 as well

Emphasis mine.

When I talk to people about the debasement of our currency, the overwhelming majority have no idea what debasement means.

And I thought it was boring to hear my professors drone on and on and on...

Interesting info, could have been presented in about 1/20th of the time.

They will probably debase the Sacagawea dollars at some point in time as well. Canada debased the 7 gram nickel $1 loonie to Iron last year, or in otherwords:

The $1 loonie going from about 11 cents worth of nickel to about 0.12 cents worth of iron.

If the US debases the Sacagawea, it will go from 5.5 cents worth of copper, to about 0.12 cents worth of iron as well.

However, Canada did upgrade it paper bills to plastic polymer, which will greatly reduce disease transmission if there should happen to be another H1N1 or SARS, or some other communicable disease outbreak.

Sacagawea and Presidential dollars are coated with anti-bacterial alloys, but of course the bills are just wet cotton socks and underwear.
