Your coin is a 1968-D.

I think that something was done to it after it was struck.

Same size as other cents, also edge intact with raised lip.

Struck through a capped die maybe?

It is either dryer damage or it may have been in a rock tumbler. A capped die would more than likely be on one side.

I have a 1962 and a 1973 with similar characteristics
