All

This may be old news to some of you, but it might be of use to other newbies like me....

Was re-rolling some coppers this morning, I stumbled on a 1972 and 1975 from the
Philidelphia mint.

In both instances, the obverse (head side) is off center, while the Memorial side is
perfectly centered. There is minimal rim on the face side at the 10-11 o'clock position,
while at the 4-5 o'clock position , the rim is much thicker.

sounds like a misaligned die strike, they aren't really worth much unless it is so far off part of the design is missing.

You can make a pile and sell them....people do collect these even if they are minor errors. I did it once. Got way more for them than common wheats. You save common wheats....right????

Yup - I save all wheat (don't have all that many yet), Canadian (I have way more of these than wheat), and even a few zincs, when they catch my eye - plus all non wheat coppers (of course.....).

Oddly enough, I spotted another off center strike tonight, but not as off as the ones from this morning. I know these weren't real dramatic as far as being in error, but you got to start somewhere - right?

Thanks for the follow up

I had a nice pile once. A bunch os misaligned Abes, reverse die cracks, die chips that filled letters or numbers, minor grease filled cents with letters or numbers missing, and even odd mintmark locations. Then I had a zinc pile full of plating issues. Gas bubbles or other zinc issues.

Now I have a small pile.

Misaligned dies from this era are rather common.
