1922 no D

I plucked this out today while running the ryedale. There is a little scuff where the D should be. Pictures makes scuff look worse than actual coin does? Is this legit?

If anything, it looks like die pair #1

BUT... I don't know how many of the other qualifiers apply to your coin...

• The easiest way to classify Die Pair #1 is the Jogging Die
Crack running from L in Pluribus through O in One.
However, this die crack is not always present. Also, be
aware that there exists a 1922 D variety with a straight die
crack in the same location.
• The second 2 in date is weaker than the first 2.
• The first T in Trust is more distinct than the other letters.
Furthermore, the T, U, and T in TRUST are stronger than
the R and S.
• WE is very mushy.
• Reverse is very weak, usually with no lines in the wheat ears.

if you look at the jaw line, suit, and 1922, its shinier than the rest, like it had been abraised by something. very interesting....

I would not get it graded. I can say with 99% assurance that its a a die #1. The easiest way to classify Die Pair #1 is the Jogging Die
Crack running from L in Pluribus through O in One. #1 is the only one that has this and this coin most defintly has it!

I have to agree 100% Die pair one. Probably not worth the money to have it graded. If your looking to sell....sell it raw.

Just wanted to post some more information on these.


Die #1 is considered a 22 D.....even if you can't see the D. This is the least valuable.

Die #2 is the only coin that will actually grade a 22 no D. This is the key and is worth the most.

Die #3 is considered a 22 weak D. This is slightly more valueable then a die 1 but will not bring any where close to the money of a die 2.

If you send it for grading they'll send it right back, it's so obvious someone has tampered with the coin. Looks like the bottoms of both the two's and the 9 are polished/buffed as well.

The right wheat stalk has a small die crack at the top also.. I found that same version, but mine has a full D...
