Anyway, I'm talking to the branch manager about coins and pennies....you know the blah...blah...blah....and he tells me he wants the next 1909 S VDB I find! I'm like keep dreaming bud. Well this guy got me thinking about doing just that....finding a "S VDB"!
To make a long story short and to the point, I was loading up the Ryedale and I see a wheat in the tupperwave container I use to sort out stuff the Ryedale doesn't like. This sucker holds 4 $50 bags at a time. Anyway, I look for the date but I see this coin has seen some time in the ground. It has some pitting and what looks like rust stuck to the front. I put it away for later. I had a hunch about it!!!!
I took the wheat inside to my table sorting area. I got my super dooper light going and my loupe in hand. Now what I see has me thinking....OMG!
I can make out VDB on the reverse but it's a bit rough in that area. But on the front I can clearly see 19?9 and then under that I swear I see an "S". And I know the 1919's didn't have the VDB on the reverse. I can't make everything look just right, yet. I had to get some sleep for work and didn't get any pics yet. And I don't care about the condition of the coin. I might have found me a 1909 S VDB!!!!!!!
By the way, I did not.....let me repeat....I did not win the powerball tonight!

I need a quick lesson in cleaning this little wheatie of mine!!!!!
Wish me luck!!!!!
