Buying Old Cents

Postby HoldingAg » Mon Jul 18, 2011 6:01 am

Hi Everyone,

I am buying some silver coins/bullion from a guy that I met on Craigslist via my I Buy 1964 and Prior US Silver Coins ad. He said he has 2 1880 Cents and 1 1817 Cent. I am buying about $220 in silver coins and bullion from him and told him I would go for $10 a piece on the Penny's. I figured I would only really be paying about $30 for the 1817 in good condition and the two others would be a bonus. My question is, is this a good deal? Are 1880 pennys worth anything? What about the 1817?

Thanks for any info you can provide!

Condition would be a crucial factor, without seeing them it would be really hard to determain a value. If they're AG or G you'd be losing out, but if your getting a sweet deal on the silver then 30 bux wouldn't be so bothersome.
