CCCP and Silver

Postby TheJonasCollegeFund » Tue Jul 17, 2012 10:42 pm

One of my recent buys included 2 1961 CCCP coins. Numista says they are aluminum. But I swear they sound, look, and feel like silver.

Soviet Union.....CCCP!

There are either a "15" and "20" or some other small amount.

Any help from the pros?

more info!?

Probably Cu Ni Zn.

15 Kopeks; 2.5g, copper-nickel-zinc, 19.5mm
20 Kopeks; 3.3g, copper-nickel-zinc, 22mm

Yours must be Kopeks, since there were no 15 or 20 denomination Roubles produced. There are pattern pieces made in copper. No silver

Cool...still don't know what happened. My phone showed this but the laptop gave me something different.

Very odd.
