lol, I thought it was a Horatio Alger story I was going to see

That reminds me, I still find BU shape cents from 1959 to 1981 not too infrequently. I save the exceptional ones every now and then. I don't know if they will have any great value in the decades to come but I do like seeing the golden 1960's ones and wonder if someone broke open some mint rolls in recent months to get them into circulation. I mean, the condition of a 60 year old coin being so BU is indicative that there may be literally millions of uncirculated old Lincoln memorial cents sitting in vaults still

Crazy money

I have a LOT of BU pre-1982's that I pulled out of hoards I bought. More than a few are MS-64/65. Amazing to pull out wheats that looked like they was just minted, red with nice luster.

I have 6 RCM bags of 1962, '63 and '64 Canadian pennies... all red and BU. Most have never been opened.

Quite possible. Also some old, possibly inherited granny jars that were dumped in Coinstar machines.

I have a large jar with a lid on it to hold my "shiners". All pre-82's that look brand new, mostly 60's and 70's. A few 50's wheaties in there too.
