This is an interesting article on zinc. I had never really thought much about it other than the fact that it's the "other" penny metal.

Zinc, crazy metal, been brought up before, not cheap anymore either. Do not save your zincolns yet. $0.0054404

Still maybe high zinc prices would hasten government to stop making the denomination one day.

54% really isn't too bad, comparatively. Quarters, dimes and halves are only 18% and the Presidential dollars are less than 6%. Still, it's not enough to make me want to save them or hoard them just yet. (if it gets to 80%, my tune might change) But it is something to think about down the road. Who knows - interesting information.

Seriously though, what are you people in the US doing minting so many zincolns? Seven billion 2013 pennies? Thats like 22 pennies per person.

You do realize that you peeps in the US made more pennies in 2013, than Canada made (all formulations of ) nickels from 1922 to 2013, lol.
