Got a new bank in town and am getting 20 bags a week. Today, my first pickup and the second bag scored $45 in dimes... Woo-hoo!!

EDIT--- Also got a 58 dime!!

Very nice!
Don't let the bank know that.

Better press it to 40 bags a week before they catch on. One would have thought newer machines would not have that much dime slop until they get more wear on them. Congrats!

The one good bag came from a branch in the NE part of the state. It's one of their branches so I'm guessing next week I'll get another. As long as that machine doesn't need maintenance I'll be getting free dimes!! Can't wait until next week!

Who's getting screwed the people throwing dimes in the machine and there counted as penny's? So the bank will never find a problem?
Or is the Bank counting dimes as dimes but throwing them into a penny bag? and there screwing themselves?
I think I will only be putting one denomination into these coin machines at one time from now on.

Wise choice, especially for the self serve machines. Just watch how it counts. If you dump dimes, and you KNOW it was only dimes, and it starts counting pennies, then you know to complain. Dimes seem to be the most likely to get counted as pennies. Most other US coins seem to sort pretty well.

Inaccuracies with bank coin counters is the reason why my son and I gave up dime roll searching several years ago. It was too often feast or famine.....either the count was too high or more often too low. I remember one time we ended up $115.00 over what we knew we were short from finding silver in a 1k dump. But more often than not we would get shorted a few dollars here and a few dollars there. The lobby counters were the problem - counters behind the tellers were usually accurate.

I have my own counter, and count each denom, keeping them separate before going in. The 4 branches which have lobby counters have been spot on for me so far, but I ALWAYS watch like a hawk. Pennies not so much. if you are 20 cents off on a $250 dump, yawn. But others I watch. Again, the most prone to have problems IS the smallest (dimes). But there has been times, when I have gotten dollar coin credit on quarters, etc. The one I worry most about is penny credits on dimes.
If I dumped $1k of dimes, and only got $550 value back ($500 in dimes and $50 in pennies), I would NOT be happy at all.

Dump pennies! That way any errors will be in your favor.
