Found 3 of these in one Box!

Outline of Abe pushing through the back. I looked it up under error coins and they call it a overlay. I took the picture of the coin upside down because Abe shows up better. His shoulder and back come down from the bottom of the C and his chest starts to come down at the right point of the T and he is facing left. Just to give you a idea of what to look for. The picture doesn't do it justice.

I found my first one, but its not a state.


The back looks like it was glued to a piece of paper.

I just found a wheat penny with a band that was placed tightly around the edge. I will try to take a pic of it. I think I recall others finding pennies with these rings around the outer rims. Does anyone have any remarks about this or can you lead me to a thread discussing them? Thank you.

I found my first proof cent while hand sorting!! I have found many Half dollar proof cents while soritng, but this is my first proof cent.

Does this happen often? Again i think it happens often with halfs but i dont know about cents...???

This is a Zincoln error pulled from the discard pile - It is a very unusual coin. The obverse is washed out due to a dollop of grease when it was stamped. The date and legends are unreadable, and only an outline of Lincoln shows. The reverse is struck perfectly. The coin is new, bright and shiny.

Hello Country -
Any idea of what, if any, the coin might be worth? Last summer I found a similar Zincoln cent and ended up throwing it back into a zinc dump.

Or maybe I just need to go on thinking that it had no value!?

How common are these? I have never seen one until you posted that picture. Then yesterday I recieved a collection of wheats and was upgrading my collection. I imagine I flipped 5 of them over to inspect the reverse and low and behold they were all just like this. I could almost immediately tell because the Obv looked a nice sharp ef-AU and the rev a meager vg or so. Tilt it at the right angle and I can see shapes just like your coin punching through hummm.

I have at least 100 just like this one....only more circulation wear on them.
