Currently the Bond market, and US Dollar index seem to be stabilizing somewhat. Dollar is still down almost 10% so far this year, and NASDAQ essentially erased an entire year of gains. Municipal bonds are still looking a little problematic, but as long as overall capital flight has steadied out, we might be able to weather this without too much more long-term damage.

The trifecta of stocks, bonds, and US dollar all moving in a sell-off direction at the same time wasn't particularly good for the ole ulcers.

Futures Soar As Federal Trade Court Blocks Trump's Global Tariffs

A US federal court has just ruled President Trump does not have the authority under economic emergency legislation to impose sweeping global tariffs.

The ruling from a three-judge panel came after several lawsuits arguing Trump has exceeded his authority, left U.S. trade policy dependent on his whims and unleashed economic chaos.

At least seven lawsuits are challenging the tariffs, the centerpiece of Trump’s trade policy.

The ruling can now be appealed by the Trump administration in federal court.

EU ‘prepared to impose countermeasures’ after Trump doubles steel tariffs to 50%

The European Union criticized U.S. President Donald Trump’s move to hike tariffs on steel imports, saying it “adds further uncertainty to the global economy.”

Trump announced Friday he was doubling tariffs on steel imports to 50% from 25%.

An EU spokesperson said it is “prepared to impose countermeasures, including in response to the latest U.S. tariff increase.”

“If no mutually acceptable solution is reached, both existing and additional EU measures will automatically take effect on 14 July—or earlier, if circumstances require,” the spokesperson said.

Trump says he will impose 50% tariff on copper imports

President Donald Trump said he will impose a 50% tariff on copper imports, and suggested more steep sector-specific duties are on the way.

“Today, we’re doing copper,” Trump said during a Cabinet meeting. “I believe the tariff on copper, we’re going to make it 50%.”

Peter Schiff...

Copper prices soared by 10% today, hitting an all-time record high, following Trump's statement that he will impose a 50% tariff on imports. If this is the case, American businesses will pay a lot more than 10% extra to buy copper, raising prices for all products that use copper.

The sky is falling!!

Peter Schiff has repeatedly predicted significant economic downturns, hyperinflation, and the collapse of the U.S. dollar, none of which have materialized as forecasted. Critics argue his consistent bearish outlook may reflect bias, given his business interests in precious metals, and that his firm’s investment performance has underperformed compared to broader markets like the S&P 500.

Trump’s tariffs on cars, copper, drugs, aluminum could hit harder than other levies

President Donald Trump’s threats to impose high tariffs on countries make U.S. trading partners and investors nervous. But his sector tariffs could hurt consumers and businesses more in the long run.
