Question:
Recently acquired 1928D $5 star note.
I want to sell/trade for silver, would i be better off proceeding with it as is or getting it grading by PCGS and then selling/trading?
Thanks in advance.
Walt

Unless it is a very high grade I doubt sending it in to PCGS is going to be worth the money you spend on the grading, but with it being a star note its hard to tell. If I were you I'd peruse Ebay completed auctions on similar items.

Or see if there are any professional dealers on RC with a currency Grey Sheet handy to look up the dealer price for it, which might give you a more realistic idea of its trade value.

AG,
condition isn't as great as i would have liked.
Compared to current E*** auction for same note, mine is in same or a little worse condition. Might grade out at a 20, not sure.
Will advise once I make decision.
Thanks for your input and advice.
