Hummm... Maybe this is a 1 kopek or a 1/4? Trying to find a good resource. This is the size of a Lincoln. Anyone want this? I might put it on eBay. Got it along with a small foreign silver purchase.

What you've got here is a Polushka (2.5 grams) from Catherine the Great of Russia. Polushkas were 1/4 Kopek (1/400 of a SILVER ruble). In 1789, there were 5 million of these minted at three different mints. It was the most common date for the Polushkas under Catherine II. :ugeek:

Note that the one below has an "EM" (Ekaterinburg) mintmark directly under the horse. The other mintmarks were "KM" (Kolyvan), and no-mintmark (Annensk in the Urals). Note that yours has the "EM" mintmark.

Condition is very important with these Russian coppers. It's sort of like early US half and large cents, many more well circulated ones are around, but very few high condition ones exist after 223 years.

The image is St George, patron saint of Russia (and England), slaying the dragon.
