WOW! another buffalo nickel. So you found a 2009 with no mint mark and a 2009-D with a weak mint mark? I suppose the coin could have been struck with a die with grease in the mint mark? Maybe the weak mint mark coin was struck at close to the same time. You should have your own nickel thread titled "Fun with nickels"
I see in your initial post you have "several"boxes of nickels, how many boxes do we have left to look forward to?

My message was unclear so let me try to explain again. At first I thought the 2009 had no mint mark, so I assumed that it was a P. Then I found a 2010 with the P mint mark next to date and I realized that series of Jefferson nickels all have mint marks, including for the Philadelphia mint. Upon closer inspection, I could see the faint D mint mark. Just wondering if that makes it an error coin.

I think I have about 10 more boxes to check. Stay tuned.

It sounds like Texas, in addition to Puerto Rico, was the place to be for 2009 nickels. I remember also that TX (in addition to AZ) were the two places people found most of the Wisconsin extra leaf quarters. So why is TX so special?

Sir, you mentioned the sacred name of Texas three times in your short post. I certainly hope you removed your hat from your head while invoking the name of the best piece of geography on the planet. Ruffians have been permanently dispatched for even lesser affronts to the honor of my great State. LOL

Who can fathom the internal decision-making process at the US Mint? However, Texas is special even if zero 2009 nicks came here.

The pendulum swings both ways...

Box #14

Latest date in the box: 2008. Wrappers: paper.

As previously mentioned, I joined RealCent in February, 2011. I started sorting pennies shortly thereafter. I began my nickel purchases a few months later...in 2011. It is surprising that a box I purchased in 2011 or 2012 contains ZERO coins from 2009 or later. I could understand if there were 2010's but no 2009's due to their relative rarity.

Quick question!

Box #19 is killing me. I'm about half way through and I am coming across mostly solid date rolls of 2010 P. Beautiful condition. The rolls that were not solid 2010's only hd two or three non-2010 coins in them. I'm in limbo though because I cannot definitively declare that the roll is all 2010's without opening them. Is there a market for rolls like this? They look so clean and shiny. There are a few bag marks or rolling machine marks, but basically uncirculated.

It is hard to imagine that rolls of Uncirculated 2010’s have any real legitimate value. You might want to check to see if any interesting (and valuable) errors have been reported.

I’d take 1-2 rolls and go through them carefully to look for errors before taking them to a bank or spending them.

Also, if you are selling you’ve got the additional hurdle of shipping charges to overcome. Too bad- I’m sure they look wonderful.
