Finding war nickels is hit or miss. I find many of the usual 1960's, 70's,80's,90's and 20XX's dates. Find an occasional 1939 and some 1940 and 1941 and some 1950's. I DON'T find any non-silver 1942 dates ever though. Are people keeping those dates?

I’ve actually seen quite a few of the non-silver 42 plains over the years, but haven’t looked much at U.S. nickels for perhaps 5-10 years or so as I prefer .999 Canadian nickels instead.

All people should keep those dates unless they are selling them for PROFIT. I have found only 180 non silver 42 over 11 and a half years of sorting. Yes, there's been large gaps (months) of non sorting, but there has also been binges too.

I'll have to see if I have any of those lying around. My guess is no, though.

I mean, I find a good distribution of 1940's nickels. Found a 1943 P the other day with a ~ $26 bag of nickel rolls. Chances of finding a war nickel is better than finding a non-silver 1942 one. Probably should just keep all the 1940's and 1950's nickels to get them out of circulation and concentrate the war nickels

I compiled 2 rolls of 1942 D that were all pulled from the wild. Took me about 30 years to do that.

Yesterday I opened nickels for the first time in at least two weeks, maybe longer. Very first roll: BOOM 1942 NON silver.
