NCGS grading deal 10 for 10 in 10

Postby justoneguy » Mon Sep 01, 2014 10:16 am

I just came across this deal from NCGS
They'll grade 10 coins for $10 each in 10 days
http://www.nationalcoingradingservice.c ... sions.html

I have a few coins that i NEED graded
viewtopic.php?f=15&t=30870

On their submission form, they ask what grade i expect.
I think i'd like just "Genuine damaged"
what do y'all think ?

This is a partial list of the coins I think I should send 'em
1909-S-VDB I have 2 of these, one being the wild that I caught. the rest are from a set I scored on
1909-S
1911-S
1912-S
1914-D
1924-D
1931-S
1922 no "D" this is also in "damaged" condition.

Then I thought just 2 out of the peace dollar set,
the 1921 and 1928, maybe the 34S

1 final is 1872 2 cent piece "cleaned"

Is this company worthwhile to use? I thought one should only get coins graded by NGC or PCGS.
"If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around them will deprive the people of all property until their children wake up homeless on the continent their Fathers conquered....The issuing power should be taken from the banks and restored to the people, to whom it properly belongs."

Well..I suppose if you want your coins put in a pretty slab.....for only ten bucks each go for it. But it's worthless to collectors and/or dealers. Check out this link, it explains it quite well :

I thought the thread title said "NGC grading deal..."

The brain sees what it wants to.

First clue as to their respectability lies therein. Why rip off NGC with the obvious name clone? Why not XRKW Grading Service? I'd avoid them for that reason alone. And I'm confident I would never buy a NCGS slabbed coin.

$10 per coin to reduce their value. Hm, sounds like you could spend $10 in another better way.

NGC or PCGS or ANACS or the coin's value will actually GO DOWN upon grading. That's not good. Grading by one of these 3 can increase the value (ask Rodebaugh) so spend your money wisely :)

I too thought this was NCG, at first,
I even went thru old threads to look up grading company ratings.
Last night i found ANACS had a special on pennies or dollars,
for the amount of, wait for it,,,,, $10 each.
only to find it expired sunday night. AAARGH

SO, looking at ANACS ad for this $10 special,
I notice that they have a PO box 15 miles from me??
I call them, and their ansewring machine {hold] message says'
"make sure to ask about our summer special"
I figured that this was the one that just expired,
But ask about it anywayThey tell me it expires 9/6, HUH??
I got their physical address and am taking my [qualifiying] coins there today.
I'll save on shipping and insurance too!

+1-- also this could be construed as ripping off both NGC and PCGS. I'd love to see how long these people have been in business and if they have a population report available.
Former stock broker w/ ~20 yrs. at one company. Spoke with 100k+ people and traded a lot (long, short, options, margin, extended hours, etc.).

Please note that ANY stocks I discuss, no matter how compelling, carry risk- sometimes substantial. If not prepared to buy it multiple times in modest amounts without going overboard (assuming nothing really wrong with the company), you need to learn more about the market and managing risk. Also, please research covered calls (options) as well.
