I can't get much info out of my 1st grade daughter, but she came home from school
with this seal mint package containing a 2010 sheild cent and an unstamped or blank? cent.
all she would say is that the people who make pennies came to school.

That is pretty cool. They came to aamerican samoa last year to launch the am samoa quarter. All the kids got a brand new quarter.

Kool!! It has to be a mint error, ask her if some of her friends who got them had the blank cent too, or if theirs were stamped normal.

Excellent. I agree with Numis Pam, see if your daughter's friends got one that way. Definely worth about $1.

Maybe it's just me, but why would the Denver Mint go to elementary schools and give out coins they made mistakes on? Doesn't seem like good business to me.

I'd guess that they explained how a piece of metal became a penny, and gave out the two-pack to show the difference between an unstruck coin and a struck coin.

Corsair, friendly reminder, this is a government entity we're talking about.

at least they didn't say the scariest words that i could ever imagine
"we're from the goverment" and "we're here to help"
