KSA Discussion Thread

Postby TheJonasCollegeFund » Sun Apr 06, 2014 8:04 am

First off I think the March version of our monthly KSA auctions was WAY better than the last few months.

So, what is anybody putting up this month?

And, what is anybody looking for this month?

After this last KSA, I am looking forward to next Friday!

I don't know if I'll have 60 listings again, but there will be a bunch. I'm down to scraps on silver, though a friend wants me to sell her stuff...so I'll have to see what's there. I have some Canada numi, another bust half, a few nice notes with lower opening bids, some re-listed stuff that didn't go in March, and some oddball non-coin stuff from Spring cleaning.

Not sure how anyone else feels, but it would be a help if we could start listing stuff on, say Thursday... :shifty:

It's not a huge deal either way. I'm a procrastinator so I'd find something to complain about no matter.

I should get some more posts over there and start bidding. I can't keep up with all the goings-on in two forums, but I sure as shootin' can bid on stuff I like!

Any thoughts on making the time-slots 3-minute intervals? Last month we were swamped out and I had to push many lots toward midnight.

Some "buy it now" auctions would be an interesting twist.

I don't know that it has a place in the KSA - it is, after all, an auction. Don't want to make any assumptions here, but if anyone else approaches these auctions the same way I do, it will only add frustration and confusion. Let me explain: Throughout the weekend, I read every auction item. I consider the terms: opening bid, payment options, shipping, other items by the same seller, etc. Any auction that has terms which are different than the others sticks out to me, and I have to remember to treat it differently as Monday evening approaches. Then on Monday, I'm racing as quick as I can from lot to lot, considering my budget, whether this or that coin has a place in my collection, etc. I don't like having extra terms which do not apply to all items. Also, I don't want to have to go back to the first post each time to remember whether or not this one has a Buy It Now option. I wanna take a quick glance at the current bid, decide if I want to go higher than that, and move on to another item. Zip zap zoom. I hope that makes sense, and that I don't sound like an entitled jerk.

But to show that I am not entirely opposed to the idea, perhaps this parameter would work: put all the buy it now items (if there are any others) at the END of the auction, in their own time slot(s). The subforum titles would all clearly say BUY IT NOW in them. If the items have not been bought before their time is up, the "live auction" part rolls up to them, just like all the other items, and they have a definite ending time as well. You get the same attention that every other item gets, and in the meantime everyone knows WHERE the buy it now items are located.

I think it would still need some tweaking, but the idea is there. My bottom line for this though: I "VOTE" NOT THIS MONTH. Perhaps we could discuss it a little more AFTER this weekend's auctions are over.

Keep the buy it nows in the buy it now section. That is my humble opinion.
Now I got to go find some stuff to auction off.......
"If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around them will deprive the people of all property until their children wake up homeless on the continent their Fathers conquered....The issuing power should be taken from the banks and restored to the people, to whom it properly belongs."

I was thinking of similar to an ebay auction with the option to buy it now. People could bid low if they dared, or grab the item for a higher price if they didn't want to chance losing it to a sniper.

I'm pretty pumped about these format changes! Way to go TPTB!

KSA Banner Reminder,
Smaller Groups, but more frequent end times (Same 60 auctions ending/hour as before)
Listing Items on Thursday,

This is pretty sweet!
