For those of you who have forgotten recent history, here's a refresher course on what can happen if you aren't prepared. These links are taken from a thread posted on the old Realcent:

For the sake of conciseness, I'm grouping together links to threads on various disasters, both natural and manmade, environmental and economic. Feel free to add to this list.

I'm not sure that most or even very many Americans have grasped what will happen when the U.S. dollar finally dies and decades of reckless government spending and consumer debt leave nobody to watch out for Americans but ourselves. The federal government can print all the paper money it wants to, but state and local governments don't have that "luxury." Here's a snapshot of what's coming down the road:

If you're not on your way toward becoming self-sufficient and a part of a community of other self-sufficient people, you aren't going to make it through the years ahead. Get started before it's too late.

Thanks, Derek. ;) My pastoral inclinations won't let me ignore other people, especially with something like this. I can't imagine the amount of suffering we'll see among people who haven't prepared, and I think it's unconscionable to NOT encourage people to prepare.

Very sorry to hear of your loss. You have my heartfelt sympathy.

Losses just before/after Christmas do seem harder than at other times of the year. We had two fall into this category about a year apart.

You will be in my thoughts and prayers.
