"Oh Canada...." That's all I know, hehe. Do you guys celebrate with explosives like we do here?

We use fireworks to celebrate as well. Ours (and I am speaking for almost everyone in the country) are bought by friends and relatives that have been in the states recently. They have much more bang for your buck.

Thanks Joe,

Did you know that Quebec Day is on the 24th of June and is called St-John Baptist Day?

Cheers,

That is a new one on me. But did you know that at one time we in Oregon were part of British North America as the Columbia District. So if history went a different way we might be part of Canada.

Happy Canada Day from the lower Susquehanna Valley in PA!

Best weekend of my life was spent in Montreal in September 1976, saw the Phillies play and win 5 games (Friday and Sunday doubleheaders and a single game Saturday afternoon), then walked downtown past the Forum and got a ticket to the Flyers-Habs game Saturday night. My seat was right behind the Flyers bench, sat next to Barry Ashbee and Mike Nyoluk (sp.?) who were not playing due to injuries or something. Ashbee was wearing a Stanley Cup championship ring that was about the size of a golf ball. Flyers won that one too, then I hit the brasseries and got lost in the underground. Would do it again in a heartbeat, I love Canada. It's a cool place! Freezing mostly.

Was a good day. Got the entire gardens done weeded, grass all cut in the yard. Two customers showed up and paid their bills. As for celebrating Canada day, I gave that up after the last election in Alberta and a trip to Edmonton.

I suspect some sentiments like this transcend country - as much as I would like to give the 4th of July the same enthusiasm that I did as a teen 40+ years ago, in today's environment that is difficult. The US isn't what it was. Perhaps Canada the same). Nevertheless in our family we'll celebrate the original intent of the 4th, no matter what we currently have.
