Canadian dime on wrong plancet?

Postby JadeDragon » Tue Sep 09, 2014 11:06 pm

Found a strange Canadian dime. Same diameter as regular dime but about 50% thicker, slightly bulged on face and back, no ribs around the edge and it feels heaver. Dated 1986 with a weak strike in the Bluenoose and clear strike on the face. The coin is weakly magnetic - compared to normal nickels which snap to the magnet this one sticks but not strongly. There is some

I know the RCM mints coins for many counties so very possible to get a wrong plancet I suppose.

Ideas? Would you send it somewhere to be verified or what? Any idea of value?

Can you post a photo of it. I could post a link on http://www.coinsandcanada.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=11 and http://www.canadiancoppercoins.com/viewforum.php?f=48&sid=2e09acf6e60c04cac4fb3588f2505d67 I am a member of both and I could ask there thoughts.
