So I see that the BEP started printing series 2017A notes back in April of 2019, has anyone ran into one yet?

Haven't seen any yet, but I know on eBay that at least the $2 notes are available. Like everyone else, I wonder what prompted the change (even something subtle, I'm guessing). This is something that has to be investigated for more details.

Well I got my first one today. All denominations except $50 have been printed now. I cashed my check and got 4 crisp uncirculated sequential series A $100 FRNs from the San Francisco Fed. They didnt print series 2017 $100 notes but these look the same as the series 2013 notes with different signatures.

Sure seems like the doors to the BEP have swung open and the Series 2017A notes are flying out the doors and into circulation.

Twenties seem to be the most frequently seen, but i've also received a $10. Not yet used to seeing the leading letter P in a currency serial number string.

What I don't know is the status of the $5 bill. I've yet to see a series 2017 let alone a 2017A. Wonder if they're circulating yet or the BEP has skipped the series 2017 altogether and moved ahead to the 2017A.

Seems mysterious as the $5 note is heavily used in commerce these days. (Think about it. What does a $1 note buy anymore?)

Sad, but true.

No series 2017 $5.00 FRNs were printed. As of April 2020 8 of the 12 Federal Reserve banks have issued series 2017A $5.00 notes. I have not seen one yet. I did receive my first 2017A $20.00 FRN in change today.
