Foreign Notes from Estate Sale

Postby MUTiger » Sat Feb 10, 2018 1:12 pm

I need some help to identify if these foreign notes I got from an estate sale have any value. They were in a bag of coins that weighed 1 pound 10 ounces. Most of the coins were from the 1970s but there are some as old as the 1940s to as new as 1980s. The coins are mostly from Mexico but there are other Central America coins there as well. I may be asking about some of the coins too.

I think this person passed. Hence the estate sale. There were a bunch of plaques and awards with the person's name as well.

Thanks. It looks like not a lot of value there. There were three or four 10% silver peso coins from 1959 and 1960. There were also a bunch of high value peso coins before they devalued the peso by lopping off three zeros. :( There is probably 1500-2000 pesos from before 1993.

I know someone who pays 50 cents each for the Mexican 10% silver pesos.
Former stock broker w/ ~20 yrs. at one company. Spoke with 100k+ people and traded a lot (long, short, options, margin, extended hours, etc.).

Please note that ANY stocks I discuss, no matter how compelling, carry risk- sometimes substantial. If not prepared to buy it multiple times in modest amounts without going overboard (assuming nothing really wrong with the company), you need to learn more about the market and managing risk. Also, please research covered calls (options) as well.

Thanks.
That is surely him. The estate sale was for Marjory Hicks. The house was also going on the market this spring.

Notes are all obsolete and/or too new/common to have much value - would be glad to help out with the coins, maybe you will have more luck there

Looking at the front side of the notes, theres one to the far right, only half shown, with handwriting all over it. There's a human-like figure on it, kind of creepy. Looks like an alien. What the heck is that? Am I just not seeing it right?

They may not have value but they are good teaching pieces. I used to show my sons obsolete notes in particular from South American countries that became hyperinflated. And they would think they were really cool. And then I would tell them that they are worth NOTHING! Then they were not so cool.

Stack metals, not paper.
