Just found out today that these are "presentation notes"
They were presented to the secretary of the treasury during that time frame.

Especially since bills typically have 8-digit serial numbers.
Former stock broker w/ ~20 yrs. at one company. Spoke with 100k+ people and traded a lot (long, short, options, margin, extended hours, etc.).

Please note that ANY stocks I discuss, no matter how compelling, carry risk- sometimes substantial. If not prepared to buy it multiple times in modest amounts without going overboard (assuming nothing really wrong with the company), you need to learn more about the market and managing risk. Also, please research covered calls (options) as well.

If these are the ones I'm thinking of, they're the large-size variety notes. Not the small ones we have in circulation today. They are indeed presentation notes. The older notes only have 6 numbers instead of 8. No doubt pricey, but I've seen other examples of these (not such a wide variety) either on eBay or a high-end banknote catalogue.
