when you mention that, we do have alot of Japanese tour buses come through here and stop at a grocery store (halfway between DC and Niagra Falls). It's the same size as a US quarter. Maybe I should start asking them for their foreign change? Thanks.

See Abby Hoffman's book, Steal this Book for more ideas with foreign coins.

I see Japanese tokens like this a lot. They are basically arcade or gambling tokens from what I understand as aloneibreak already pointed out (and maybe carwash too, if they have those in Japan). They are almost always die-cast alloy, so they don't stick to a magnet but they aren't very valuable as metal.
