Brass shell casings - worth much?

Postby InfleXion » Sun Jun 16, 2019 7:07 pm

The wife wants to toss my brass shell casings I've been saving as a closet metal hoarder now that space is at a premium. They are in pretty nice shape, 223 calibur. It looks like online these sell for $2 each which seems high, whereas the melt value is going for a more understandable $1.20 / pound. Is it worth trying to sell them? I've probably got nearly 10 pounds. No telling what already went in the trash with the last bag before I caught her. It's fun to be able to complain about a spouse for once after hearing other stories over the years. I love her to bits anyway. =)

If it's a digital asset it's worth the electrons in cyberspace.

You may wish to inquire at a shooting range. 223 can be expensive to get.
Silver Monometalism is the most permanent and stable form of money the world has seen. Natural law and history prove silver value is best multiplied by gold and best divided by copper. It is only in this counterfeit currency time when the natural law appears suspended.

If you can find an idiot to pay $2 each for just the brass .223 case you better take that all day. More than the cost of the loaded ammo....

Not an expensive item around here.

The reason they sell for $2 each on line is because people buy 1 or 2 and use them for other purposes, jewelry etc.

Oh oh. Isn’t that what Jeffrey Dahmer said? Just kidding of course.
Former stock broker w/ ~20 yrs. at one company. Spoke with 100k+ people and traded a lot (long, short, options, margin, extended hours, etc.).

Please note that ANY stocks I discuss, no matter how compelling, carry risk- sometimes substantial. If not prepared to buy it multiple times in modest amounts without going overboard (assuming nothing really wrong with the company), you need to learn more about the market and managing risk. Also, please research covered calls (options) as well.
