Got .60 in Arizona. First time I had been to this place, very small operation and also buys plastic bottles, so I am guessing they are sending these to California for CRV

Got a quote this morning from my usual place for 31 cents. I was shocked. I said the spot price is over a dollar, I called six months ago and you guys quoted me 35 cents. Tell the person who sets your price this is ridiculous. Done with them. Called another place, they said 45 cents, which I still dont like. Historically, with spot where it is, scrap yards offer 60-70 cents. I've been out of the game for a while, someone please explain to me what's going on? Is Covid somehow messing things up?

while its possible the yards in your area are just being tight-wads, there's usually a strategic explanation. china only recently re-opened to foreign scrap imports after a hiatus. this really hurt a lot of recyclers.

I think things are turning around now, but apparently in 2020 there was over-supply in the US https://www.metalbulletin.com/Article/3 ... ahead.html

I used to take cans and plastic bottles back for the deposits in DE. Then DE got rid of the deposit for the bottles, and the cans basically boil down to a value of .01 each, here. Based on that, I find alot of pennies without having to burn extra gas, and fight with people who want to cheap out on me.

It's so crazy.

Tucson is still .55 for a while as that place is closing. The other places are crappola, maybe a quarter.

I was quoted .38 cents/lb for aluminum storm window frames. From what I'm seeing here that appears to be on the low side.

Called large recycler here in Central Illinois on 4/6/22 and they are paying 85 cents a pound. That's the highest I have seen in a while and 70% higher from late 2021 of 50 cents a pound.

I am still accumulating and waiting. I think it might go higher.

Drove past the yard on Friday and noticed they were paying 0.40 in my part of SE Wisconsin.

Paying 40 cents in my undisclosed location- 45 cents if crushed.

BUT, I had a full Brute type trash can- about 27”H and 22” in diameter. It was jammed full, contained 17# of crushed cans, and I only got $6.80 total (the non-crushed price) for a big container which took up quite a bit of space in my SUV.

Very disappointed with such a small amount, but I had to clean up the yard for company visiting soon, so I was in no position to haggle.

My total amount received that day for everything I turned in was $267.98, so I was very happy with the overall result.

I will note that one yard I called said he doesn’t even take aluminum cans anymore. Last time I was there I noticed LOTS of bees flying around. Maybe he got stung and decided to shut down that part of the biz.
Former stock broker w/ ~20 yrs. at one company. Spoke with 100k+ people and traded a lot (long, short, options, margin, extended hours, etc.).

Please note that ANY stocks I discuss, no matter how compelling, carry risk- sometimes substantial. If not prepared to buy it multiple times in modest amounts without going overboard (assuming nothing really wrong with the company), you need to learn more about the market and managing risk. Also, please research covered calls (options) as well.
