Had a 2 axle 10x14 aluminum box trailer I got from work it was in an accident and totaled by the insurance company so I filled it with shreads and hauled it in. Total weight was 9,860 pounds and I got 190/ton for shreads
now to get the 6 cars out of the backyard

I noticed that "hobo finds" and "cwgii" are both from Tucson and both have posted items taken to the scrap yard within a day of each other twice. Do you guys know each other or is this just a big coincidence?
Former stock broker w/ ~20 yrs. at one company. Spoke with 100k+ people and traded a lot (long, short, options, margin, extended hours, etc.).

Please note that ANY stocks I discuss, no matter how compelling, carry risk- sometimes substantial. If not prepared to buy it multiple times in modest amounts without going overboard (assuming nothing really wrong with the company), you need to learn more about the market and managing risk. Also, please research covered calls (options) as well.

Made two trips last week. Haven't gone to the scrap yard in 3+ years, just been stacking everything up in a leaky storage container that will eventually become scrap itself. Found a place that is only a 7 minute drive instead of 45. Their steel price is a couple cents lower but well worth the savings in gas, time, and hassle.

373 stainless turnings @ .15 = $55.95
40 tin cans @ .03 = $1.20
597 mixed steel @ .08 = $47.76
2082 aluminum turnings @ .22 = $458.04 (was quoted .10 a couple months ago  )
85 aluminum cans @ .55 = $46.75
183 mixed aluminum @ .45 = $82.35
77 extruded aluminum @ .50 = $38.50
Total $730.55

Still have at least a ton of steel turnings and mixed steel to haul.

They pay lower for steel tin cans than mixed? I would mix them in if I could!

They won't take them mixed in. This is just a little place, but the last time I went to the big place further away they also had a separate pile and they were on the "things we take for free" list along with plastic, cardboard, etc.

Nate: You ought to take some copper bars to them and ask what they'd pay just for grins. I'd be curious if they'd give you a funny look or ask why you are even bringing something like that to them.
