Found a 2002 dime and a 1975 Canadian penny. I'd say I did good. There was no tray so I had to reach to the chute, must have been more on the floor.

Found a 1972 penny on the floor in front of a CoinStar at a Wal-Mart. I'm hoping to get out the magnifying glass and see that it's a doubled die... haha...

I have checked machines when I notice people just leaving after a drop. On only one time did I find a coin, and it was a silver 1964 US beauty. The machine must not think its real by its weight
Today's find was the best in a while - a 1935-S wheat cent sitting in the middle of the return tray!

I find a lot of coin at the CoinStar. Silver dimes about 1 every 4 months in the reject tray. Odd coins in between. Double hand-fulls of mixed coin about every 4 months --- foreign coins, pennies, US coins.
Checking the coinstar reject tray is worth the effort between the occasional silver dime, the occasional double hand-full of mixed coins, and the random pennies and nickels, I get something for free every month. nothing exotic yet, like a 2 cent piece or a gold coin. And the only silver I find is dimes. But still, adds interest to every grocery store visit. And it doesnt cost anything to look.

Was at the grocery store late last night and I hear a guy dumping his change into the coinstar machine. Since it was late the store was pretty quiet. I hear the machine running and it has the occasional reject, which the guy throws back into the machine. It had a nice rhythm, clunk clunk clunk, as the rejects hit the tray. Then I hear clunk, clunk, CLINK, clunk, and I know that was a silver coin. I head over, to make like I was next in line, as he throws the last rejects back in to finish. I already have a dime in hand, as I start chatting with him. As that last dime keeps getting spit out, I offer to buy it from him, but he just hands it to me. A 1947 Roosevelt. I thank him, and wish him well, and wonder at the fact that he had no idea about the silver, but was very grateful for his generosity and kindness.

The CoinStar machine at my credit union had a handful of coins left behind by someone that used it before me. - 3 clad quarters - 2 clad dimes - 1 silver dime (1959-D) - 1 nickel (way too corroded to read) - 1 cent (1978-D) - 1 Canadian quarter (1989) .999 Ni - 1 Canadian dime (1974) .999 Ni
