coinstar finds

Postby misteroman » Mon Nov 14, 2011 7:55 pm

Didn't ever see any other threads about this so start I would start one.
Whenever I go to my local grocery store I always take a quick peek in the coinstar reject slot. Every once in a while ya find something good.
Post em up.
Last monday I found an 1980 Cdn nickel, Cdn qtr and a beat up dime.

We are supposed to post skunks on these tracking threads, right?

6 months of checking every Coinstar machine that I pass - skunk.

I noticed a coin on the coinstar countertop. It was a 1983 Canadian quarter that nobody wanted! I found a Franklin Half in another machine a while back.
I've been accumulating CWRs of cents for two plus years, waiting for that rainy day ... well guess what, that day has arrived ... I'm broke ... time to get rid of the two tons of zinc!

My usual practice of checking the coinstar machine at the grocery store got me 2 cents. One copper and one zincer. I guess i got my 2-cent's worth at the store!

Posted this in the pocket change find but it belongs here. Went in the local food lion to get some groceries and checked the coinstar machine (always do) and pulled out 2 dimes and 3 pennies. One of the dimes was a Merc. and one of the pennies was a wheaty both in good shape. Not bad! :D

Went into the local credit union (dump bank) to unload some coins and checked the machine before dumping mine in and the tray was full of coins! Pulled out 3 clad quarters 2 dimes, 1 was a 64 silver, 1 nickel and 16 pennies (only 2 coppers). Not bad for a dump run.

Found a U.S. clad dime while dumping zincs at a CoinStar this morning. Then I found another U.S. clad dime at a different CoinStar machine. I thought these machines were supposed to accept the clad ones and reject the SILVER ones.

Well, here it is.....my first coinstar find......1 x 1902 Republica Mexicana Un Centavos! It was laying under the machine. I spotted it just as I was walking out. The link below was the best description I could find about, but if anybody knows more, I would appreciate the info!
