HIGHLIGHTS OF September's SILVER SEARCHING:
September was only a little more productive than August, the worst month of the year. $104,409.50 halves were searched, over $35000 more than August, yet only 35 more SILVER halves were found. Only 4 SILVER halves per box on average were found. War Nicks found increased to 92 in August, there were 135 SILVER dimes found, and 14 SILVER quarters were discovered in the wild. BamaJoe's 87 SILVERs box was the best half box. gravybro grabbed 8 SILVER dimes out of one $250 box of dimes early in the month. Interestingly, there were 3 fantastic 1925 Stone Mountain commemorative halves found in the month of September (many of us have yet to find one of these). However, the best find of all, was the 1838 Capped Bust half dollar found by BamaJoe.
On the leadership boards: BamaJoe found the most SILVER halves (201), while UDEric had to settle for second with 131 SILVER halves. UDEric found the most SILVER dimes (30), just beating out last month's leader gravybro who found 29 SILVER dimes this month. zerocd was the best at finding War Nicks (28) and cwgii was second best with 19.

9/4 - AmaleikDad finds a 1946 Booker T. Washington commemorative half in a box.
9/8 - gravybro gets 8 SILVER dimes in a box, the best dime box this year.
9/8 - beauandros finds 49 SILVERs in a half box, including 13 Franklins and 14 90% JFKs.
9/9 - BamaJoe finds a pirate's chest of halves - 72 SILVERs including 7 Walkers, 21 Franklins, and 37 90% JFKs.
9/10 - BamaJoe finds another pirate chest of halves - 87 SILVERs including 1925 Stone Mountain commemorative, 4 Walkers, 22 Franklins, and 55 90% JFKs.
9/11 - AGCoinHunter finds a 1925 Stone Mountain commemorative (his third of the year) in a $1000 bag of halves.
9/18 - Country finds a boatload of NIFCs in a half box - 156 of them, including 138 2010's.
9/20 - BamaJoe finds an 1838 Capped Bust half in a box, the oldest SILVER coin found this year.
9/26 - AGCoinHunter snags 31 SILVERs in a $1000 bag of halves.
9/28 - garnede finds 7 SILVER dimes in a $250 box, including a 2005-S SILVER proof.
9/29 - UDEric finds a 1914-D Barber dime in a $250 box of dimes.
9/30 - BamaJoe finds another 1925 Stone Mountain commemorative in a half box.

It's important to post your SKUNKS as well as your great SILVER finds. That keeps the statistics honest. I'll try to post some graphs of our SILVER finds as 2010 proceeds along by adding data to this initial post. I'll see if I can post some interesting insights into the data here in this initial post for 2010 too. Even though this is a national tabulation of all our finds, I think its fun to know what finds are being made and at what frequentcy.
It might be interesting to see how many Barbers, Walkers, Franklins, and 90% Kennedys are found too. Also, how many Barbers and Mercurys dimes we find. I'll try to keep track of all of these.

The total SILVER count for each box is either the actual reported SILVERs, $1000 bag SILVERs divided by two, and a few SILVER counts that were extrapolated from multiple box reports that did not delinate how many SILVERs were in each box. The chart shows the number of SILVERs on the horizontal axis and the number of boxes for that count on the vertical axis. Outliers that were not included to make the chart reasonable in size were Slickeast's 183 and 229 SILVER $1000 bags, JJM's 397 $620 vault bag, zerocd's 132 box, UDEric's 78 and 113 boxes, AmalekiDad's 92 box, and 12kHz's wonderful 131, 155, 161, 235, 287 and 311 SILVER boxes.
