HIGHLIGHTS OF February's SILVER SEARCHING:
February half searching was over $23000 more than January. However, production of SILVER halves was 22% less than January. $180,753.00 halves were searched, and 1057 SILVER halves were found. 2.92 SILVER halves per box on average were found. Also, of the 342 half boxes searched, 195 of them were SKUNKS!! War Nicks found was 43 less than January as only 60 were found in February; there were 161 SILVER dimes found (3 more than January); and 3 SILVER quarters were discovered in the wild. jtlee321 had the best $500 box in January with 41 SILVER halves. AGCoinHunter found 35 SILVERs in a $1000 bag in January. rakattack got 5 SILVER dimes out of a $250 box of dimes, the best one during January. zerocd found 4 War Nicks in a $100 box too.
On the leadership boards: jtlee321 found an outstanding number of SILVER halves (422), again far exceeding everyone else as CardsNCoins who had to settle for second with 143 SILVER halves. jtlee321 found the most SILVER dimes too (41), nudging out CardsNCoins who found 29. zerocd was the best at finding War Nicks (37), outdistancing others who were in signal digits.
Other highlights are as follows:
2/4 - jtlee321 reports finding 3 SOLID rolls of 1964 JFKs in $210 of CWRs.
2/4 - zerocd finds a 1906 Barber half in a box of halves.
2/5 - jtlee231 gets a 41 SILVER half box.
2/6 - KCTCJO finds a 1925 Stone Mountain half in a box of halves.
2/6 - zerocd finds a 1912 V-Nick in a box of nickels.
2/12 - rakattack finds 5 SILVER dimes in a box dimes, the best so far this year.
2/13 - zerocd finds 4 War Nicks in a box of nickels.
2/15 - jtlee321 gets 14 SILVER dimes from a $500 coin counter bag.
2/15 - CardsNCoins finds 32 SILVER halves in two CWR half rolls.
2/19 - AGCoinHunter gets 35 SILVER halves in a $1000 bag of halves.
2/20 - hirbonzig finds 11 SILVER Roosevelts in 6 boxes of dimes.
2/24 - Dumpster diver finds 16 clad proofs and 4 2001 Capitol clads in a box of halves.
2/24 - jtlee321 finds 4 SILVER Roosevelts in a box of dimes.
2/25 - HoardcopperByTheTon gets 31 clad NIFCs in a box of halves.
2/25 - beauanderos finds a 1923 Monroe Doctrine half in a box of halves.
2/28 - Dumpster Diver finds 5 SILVER proof JFKs, only 15 have been found in the past 2 years.
It's important to post your SKUNKS as well as your great SILVER finds. That keeps the statistics honest. I'll try to post some graphs of our SILVER finds as 2011 proceeds along by adding data to this initial post. I'll see if I can post some interesting insights into the data here in this initial post for 2011 too. Even though this is a national tabulation of all our finds, I think its fun to know what finds are being made and at what frequentcy.
It might be interesting to see how many Barbers, Walkers, Franklins, and 90% Kennedys are found too. Also, how many Barbers and Mercurys dimes we find. I'll try to keep track of all of these.
