Also religious medallion. Stamped Sterling Theda ?? Sound like silver on the machine but I've not run into that stamp before. I wonder what theda means?? :? Weight .3 oz.

Sterling Theda is the brand name of Ideal Jewelry Manufacturing Company of Providence, RI

More than likely it is .925 silver. Nice find! My coinshooting partner of a son found one just like that last year.

hey y'all.

back when i lived in vt. i detected almost every day.

now here in tucson. there are several obsticles...... schools all have locked fences. parks have a no digging rule. due to irrigation. plus they were going to start charging for permits.

i applied for a city job this week. found out that they figured out it was not worth the income to charge for permits..... still free, so i picked up one.

so...... i am headed out to detect the local park , after dropping off the recycling.

Just waiting for the ground to loose its grip on the good stuff up here in the cold north country of Minnesota. Maybe in April I will be able to stick a pick a couple inches in the ground. But the wet suit is ready and when the ice goes off the lakes look out boys I will be a hunting fool. When the water is that cold even in the wet suit it makes anything that was anything shirvel up to nothing. Oh now thats cold.

here in az, the weather is nice, but the digging sucks. or lack of digging. not allowed due to irrigation pipes.

the 'grass' is very dry/ sod. so using a screwdriver as a 'probe' is all i can do.

45 minutes

2 zn
1 dime

4-5 pull tabs

Hunt #5 I went back to my first spot from last Friday. I hit a bunch of grass areas and around trees and places I could see that were trails in the grass where all of the kiddie traffic is. Again, I left tons of penny signals. Then I went to the soccer/football complex. I went looking for a new hotspot.

March 7th

3 hours

27 zinc pennies
20 copper pennies
17 dimes
7 nickels
9 quarters

80 coins-$4.77

other finds:

1 dog tag
1 hollow point bullet (copper jacket :D )
2 key chains
Lots of slaw

What the hell is that?

It looks like cole slaw or shrimp salad.

Nope...I keep digging 'can slaw'. I'm detemined to find some gold rings this year. This means digging all nickel signals. This means digging lots of pull tabs and can slaw. (cans ate up by the lawnmower) :? :(

I'm saving every bit of it, too!

Ok so we are updated now. I also would like to apologise for doing the incorrect formula last month for figuring up “total score”. I weighted silver finds the same as gold would be by not multiplying silver grams by 0.1. My bad. I have it fixed now on my spreadsheet and in the post.

Correct formula:
Monthly Total=[Sum of coin less CU cents+(CU cents X 2)]X Hours Hunted X(1+grams gold)X[1+(0.1Xgrams silver)].

My mistake formula:
Monthly Total=[Sum of coin less CU cents+(CU cents X 2)]X Hours Hunted X(1+grams gold)X[1+(1Xgrams silver)].

If anyone has an idea how we should value old coin finds to add to “total score” feel free to share. My thoughts are just plug actual PM coins weights into existing formula. Of course that doesn’t work for wheats and buffalos. Love to hear some thoughts on this.

Thanks, Chris

Sled slopes are a great place to detect. Another couple of months until the snow melts here for that kind of detecting. Ski slopes are good too. Also .. look where they plow the snow off the parking area. :)
